A women's Congress rally at Station Chowk in Bhagalpur saw former MLA Ajit Sharma accuse the government of worsening household budgets amid soaring prices.

Bhagalpur, Bihar – On Saturday, a women's wing of the Indian National Congress organized a street rally at Station Chowk to protest the surge in consumer prices. The gathering, attended by local party workers and residents, focused on how inflation is eroding the purchasing power of ordinary families.
Former legislator Ajit Sharma, a senior Congress figure in the region, addressed the crowd and blamed the state and central governments for policies that have led to higher costs of essential items, education and daily necessities. He warned that the rising expense is forcing many households to cut back on basic needs.
The rally featured placards demanding price stabilization measures and a call for the government to implement relief schemes for low‑income families. Organisers said the protest aims to pressure authorities ahead of upcoming state elections.
Police maintained a presence at the venue but reported no disturbances. The Congress party has scheduled similar rallies in other parts of Bihar to highlight the inflation issue.
The event underscores growing public anxiety over price hikes, a concern echoed across several Indian states as the nation grapples with global commodity price pressures.
