Mukul Sangma, the former chief minister of Meghalaya, said he will not join the Bharatiya Janata Party and asserted that the Trinamool Congress cannot be broken.

Mukul Sangma, who served as Meghalaya's chief minister from 2010 to 2023, publicly ruled out any move to join the Bharatiya Janata Party. In a statement released to the media, he emphasized that his political trajectory will remain independent of the BJP.

Sangma also addressed the strength of the Trinamool Congress, stating that the party's cohesion cannot be broken despite recent political realignments across the country. His comments come amid growing speculation about defections ahead of upcoming state and national elections.

Political analysts noted that Sangma's decision may influence regional dynamics, particularly in the Northeast, where coalition politics play a pivotal role. The former chief minister did not elaborate on future alliances but reiterated his commitment to his own political platform.

The BJP, which has been courting several regional leaders, has not responded to Sangma's remarks as of now. Meanwhile, the Trinamool Congress, led by Mamata Banerjee, continues to consolidate its position in West Bengal and seeks to expand its influence beyond the state.
