Police in Bhopal have arrested two suspects in a case alleging that former Chief Minister Kamal Nath used a forged will and death certificate of his father to seize about 26 bighas of land in Bhopal.
Police in Bhopal have charged former Chief Minister Kamal Nath with illegally acquiring approximately 26 bighas of land in the city. According to investigators, the land was taken by presenting a forged will and a counterfeit death certificate of Nath’s father, allegedly to claim ownership.
The case, which surfaced after a land dispute was reported, alleges that the forged documents were used to transfer the property from the rightful owners to Nath’s name. The police say the documents were fabricated to create a false legal basis for the transfer.
Two suspects were arrested on the day of the investigation. They are accused of forging the will and death certificate and facilitating the land transfer. The arrests were made after a detailed forensic examination of the documents.
Police officials stated that the investigation is ongoing and that they will pursue all legal avenues to recover the land and hold those responsible accountable. The case has drawn attention to the need for stricter verification of property documents in the state.
