Jaipur court sentenced former Banadiqui police station ASI Lalita Sharma to three years’ imprisonment and a ₹10,000 fine for demanding a ₹500 bribe to release a motorcycle.
The Jaipur District Court on Wednesday handed down a three‑year jail term to former Assistant Sub‑Inspector Lalita Sharma of the Banadiqui police station, finding her guilty of accepting a bribe. The court also imposed a fine of ₹10,000.
According to the prosecution, Sharma demanded ₹500 from a motorist in exchange for allowing the rider to retrieve a parked motorcycle that had been impounded. The payment was recorded by the investigating officers and presented as evidence.
The judge ruled that the evidence was sufficient to prove the charge of corruption under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and ordered the imprisonment and monetary penalty without provision for bail.
