The Madhya Pradesh Food Safety Department confiscated 316 kg of mava and milk cakes at Bhopal’s ISBT and Nadra bus stand after a bus from Nagpur was found carrying suspect-quality products.
Bhopal, MP – In a pre‑Raksha Bandhan operation, the state Food Safety Department seized a total of 316 kilograms of confectionery comprising mava and milk‑based cakes. The raid was conducted at the city’s Inter‑State Bus Terminal (ISBT) and the nearby Nadra bus stand.
Investigators traced the goods to a bus that had arrived from Nagpur. The vehicle was carrying 150 kg of mava and 166 kg of milk cakes. Upon inspection, the authorities deemed the items questionable in terms of quality and halted their distribution.
The confiscated stock, valued at roughly ₹78,000, will be subjected to further laboratory testing to confirm compliance with food‑safety standards. The department has warned vendors that sub‑standard sweets will not be allowed for sale, especially during the festive period.
Officials said the action underscores the department’s vigilance ahead of Raksha Bandhan, a major festival when demand for sweets spikes across the country.
