Food poisoning after Satyanarayan puja prasadam sickens 30+ in Paradi, Samastipur

More than 30 residents of Paradi village in Samastipur district fell ill with vomiting, diarrhoea and abdominal pain shortly after consuming Satyanarayan puja prasadam, prompting hospital admissions of children and elders.
Samastipur district’s Paradi village witnessed a sudden wave of food‑borne illness on Thursday after residents partook in the Satyanarayan puja prasadam. Local witnesses said the symptoms appeared within a few hours of the communal meal.
More than thirty people, ranging from children to senior citizens, reported vomiting, diarrhoea and severe abdominal pain. Several of the affected were rushed to nearby health centres, where doctors confirmed cases of acute gastroenteritis.
District health officials have launched an investigation, collecting samples of the prasadam and testing the kitchen facilities used for the puja. The authorities have also issued a public advisory urging anyone who consumed the meal and experiences similar symptoms to seek immediate medical care.
The Samastipur medical college hospital has admitted a number of patients, providing rehydration therapy and monitoring for dehydration. No fatalities have been reported so far.
