The Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA) has issued a flood alert for Ganjam district, citing meteorological forecasts that predict heavy monsoon rainfall over the next two days. Authorities say that the expected downpour could cause water levels in local rivers and streams to rise rapidly, putting low‑lying villages at risk.
Residents have been advised to stay alert, avoid crossing flooded areas and move to designated relief shelters if instructed. The district administration has already mobilised rescue teams, set up temporary camps and is coordinating with the police and health services to ensure prompt assistance.
