Heavy monsoon rains across the Himalayan region caused sudden flash floods in Nepal, where local officials confirmed a death toll of 16 people. The inundation swept away homes and roads in several villages, prompting emergency response teams to launch rescue operations.
In response, the disaster management authorities of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar have placed the districts bordering Nepal on high alert. Both state governments have activated flood warning systems and are monitoring river levels that feed into the Indian side.
