Indian Railways will operate five special train pairs from Itarsi on routes to Mau, Gorakhpur, Ghazipur City and Varanasi, and add extra sleeper coaches to the Sachkhand Express on Nov 11 and 18 to manage the festival‑time surge.

Indian Railways announced that five pairs of special trains will be introduced from Itarsi to cope with the expected passenger influx during the upcoming Diwali and Chhath festivals. The additional services will operate on the Mau, Gorakhpur, Ghazipur City and Varanasi routes, providing extra capacity for travelers heading to the festive hubs.

The special trains are scheduled to run in the days leading up to the festivals, offering both seating and sleeper options to accommodate a wide range of passengers. Railway officials said the move aims to reduce congestion at major junctions and ensure a smoother journey for holiday‑makers.

In parallel, the Sachkhand Express, which connects Delhi with Amritsar, will have extra sleeper coaches attached on 11 November and 18 November. This augmentation is intended to meet the heightened demand from pilgrims and tourists traveling during the same period.

The railway authority has urged passengers to book tickets early through the IRCTC portal or authorized counters, as seats are expected to fill quickly. The additional services reflect the railways' broader strategy of scaling up capacity during peak festive seasons.
