Five people died and more than a dozen were admitted to hospitals after drinking illicit liquor in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh.

Authorities in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, reported that five individuals lost their lives after consuming spurious liquor believed to be illegally manufactured. The incident prompted an immediate medical response as the victims exhibited symptoms of acute poisoning.

Health officials confirmed that over twelve more people were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment of severe intoxication, with several in critical condition. All affected patients were administered supportive care, including intravenous fluids and monitoring for organ failure.

The police have launched an investigation to identify the source of the illicit liquor and have sealed suspected storage sites. Officials warned the public against consuming unlicensed alcoholic beverages and urged anyone experiencing similar symptoms to seek medical help without delay.
