First Seasonal Snowfall Hits Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand

The Indian Meteorological Department confirmed that the first snowfall of the season arrived in the hill states of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on Monday. Snowfall was reported in several high‑altitude districts, including Shimla, Kinnaur, and Uttarkashi, where accumulations of up to a few centimeters were recorded.

Temperatures in the affected areas dropped to near‑freezing levels, prompting local authorities to issue advisories for travelers and residents. Schools in some remote villages were temporarily closed as road conditions became slippery.
