The inaugural MEMU service from Rewa arrived in Churhat, Sidhi district on Oct 17, 2026, fulfilling long‑awaited rail connectivity hopes for locals.
On Saturday, October 17, 2026, the first MEMU (Mainline Electric Multiple Unit) train completed its journey from Rewa to Churhat, a town in Sidhi district of Madhya Pradesh. The arrival was witnessed by a crowd of residents who have been awaiting a direct rail link for years.
The new service is part of a broader initiative by Indian Railways to extend connectivity to underserved regions in central India. By linking Rewa, a regional hub, with Churhat, the MEMU train is expected to reduce travel time and provide a reliable, affordable option for daily commuters, traders, and students.
Local officials hailed the event as a historic step toward integrating Sidhi district more closely with the state’s economic corridors. They anticipate that improved rail access will stimulate trade, enhance mobility, and encourage further infrastructure development in the area.
While the inaugural run was limited to a single train, authorities have indicated plans to increase frequency based on passenger demand. The community now looks forward to a regular schedule that could transform travel patterns across the district.
The launch underscores Indian Railways’ commitment to expanding its network into remote districts, aligning with national goals of inclusive growth and regional connectivity.
