In Chapra district hospital, a 65‑year‑old patient, Bharat Ram, underwent the region’s first hip replacement surgery, restoring mobility after a severe femoral neck fracture.

Chapra district hospital in Bihar’s Saran district performed its first hip replacement surgery on Monday, marking a milestone for local medical services.

The 65‑year‑old patient, Bharat Ram of Amanour, had been suffering from a severe femoral neck fracture that had left him immobile. Surgeons replaced the damaged joint with a prosthetic implant, restoring his ability to walk.

The operation, conducted by a team of orthopedic specialists, was completed without complications and the patient is expected to recover fully in the coming weeks.

This achievement represents a significant step for rural healthcare in Bihar, providing advanced orthopedic care that was previously unavailable in the district.
