A sudden blaze erupted in a Siwan market, spreading to an air‑conditioner store where gas cylinders burst. The first fire‑engine ran out of water, but a second unit eventually contained the fire.
A sudden fire broke out in a market in Siwan, Bihar, and rapidly reached a shop that sells air‑conditioners. The intense heat caused the gas cylinders stored in the shop to explode, creating loud blasts and adding to the chaos.
Witnesses reported that the initial fire‑engine that arrived on the scene soon exhausted its water supply, hampering the early attempts to control the blaze. Firefighters had to withdraw temporarily to refill their tanks.
A second fire‑engine arrived later and, after considerable effort, succeeded in bringing the fire under control. The combined response prevented the flames from spreading further into the surrounding market stalls.
Local authorities have not yet released an estimate of the material loss or any injuries, and an official damage assessment is pending.
