A blaze erupted at a power substation in Pimpri‑Chinchwad on Tuesday, prompting emergency response and temporary power cuts across parts of the city.
A fire broke out at a power substation located in the industrial belt of Pimpri‑Chinchwad on Tuesday evening. The flames were first reported around 6:30 p.m. by nearby residents, and fire‑fighting teams from the municipal corporation and the state electricity board arrived within minutes.
According to officials, the blaze is believed to have started due to an electrical short circuit in one of the high‑voltage transformers. No casualties have been reported, but several workers at the site were evacuated as a precaution.
The incident forced the electricity department to switch off supply to the affected feeder, resulting in temporary power outages for thousands of households and commercial units in the surrounding neighborhoods.
