A female cheetah named Nirbhah, missing since Aug 20 from Kuno National Park, was located healthy in nearby fields after a 13‑day search by forest officials.
The forest department confirmed that the female cheetah, identified as Nirbhah, went missing from Kuno National Park on August 20. A coordinated effort involving five teams, equipped with drones, CCTV surveillance and ground patrols, was launched to locate the animal. After thirteen days of intensive searching, officials spotted the cheetah in agricultural fields bordering a residential settlement, where she appeared to be in good health. The animal was captured, examined by veterinarians and fitted with a new collar bearing an identification tag before being released back into the park. Forest officials said the swift response and use of technology were crucial in ensuring the cheetah’s safe recovery.
