Farmers Rise, Insured Area Falls

The Prime Minister's crop insurance scheme has seen a rise in the number of farmers participating, but the insured area has decreased significantly. According to data presented in the Lok Sabha, the insured area has fallen from 39% to 36%. This decline has raised several questions about the effectiveness of the scheme. Despite the increase in the number of farmers, the reduction in insured area is a cause for concern. The scheme has also seen a significant amount of claims pending, with over 8,568 crore rupees stuck in the last five years.
