A family returning from a puja pandal discovered that thieves had broken into their locked home in Kotwali, Gaya, stealing jewelry and cash worth about ₹55 lakh.

A family from Gaya reported that, after attending a puja pandal, they found their residence in the Kotwali police‑station jurisdiction had been ransacked. The house was locked when the family left for the religious event, and upon returning, they discovered that valuables had been taken.

According to the victims, the thieves removed jewelry and cash amounting to an estimated ₹55 lakh. The loss claim includes gold ornaments and liquid cash that were stored in the locked rooms of the house.

Local police have registered a theft case and are conducting a preliminary investigation. Officers have taken statements from the family and are reviewing any available CCTV footage from nearby streets and the pandal venue.

Investigators have appealed to the public for information that could help identify the perpetrators, emphasizing that the theft occurred while the house was unoccupied. The case highlights concerns over security in residential areas during community gatherings.
