Family Carries Pregnant Woman 3 km on Cot Due to Missing Road in Rayagada

Rayagada district officials reported that a family had to carry a pregnant woman on a cot for about three kilometres because the access road to their village was non‑existent. The incident occurred when the woman, who was in her third trimester, needed to reach a nearby health centre for routine check‑ups. With no paved or even a footpath available, the family members lifted the cot and walked the distance, highlighting the severe infrastructure gaps in remote parts of the district. Local authorities said they have taken note of the case and will assess the need for constructing a proper road to the affected area. The family expressed relief after reaching the health centre, but urged the government to address such basic connectivity issues promptly.
