Delhi police’s ACP Vivek Bhagat is under investigation after 24‑year‑old Nadeem Ahmed Amin, accused of creating a deep‑fake video, was found to have ties with the BJP and had posted supportive footage during a protest.

Delhi police have opened a case against 24‑year‑old Nadeem Ahmed Amin, who is alleged to have fabricated a video that portrayed Assistant Commissioner of Police Vivek Bhagat in a compromising manner. The video, which surfaced during a recent public demonstration, prompted a swift response from the police hierarchy and a formal complaint was lodged against the suspect.

During the ongoing investigation, detectives uncovered that Amin had previously posted a video supporting the protestors, and that his social media activity indicated an affiliation with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The link to the party was established through shared posts, group memberships and communications that suggested political motivation behind the deep‑fake creation.

Police officials, who declined to name senior officers, said the revelations point to a coordinated attempt to tarnish the image of a senior law‑enforcement official. They have seized Amin's electronic devices and are examining the source of the manipulated footage. The case is being treated as a serious cyber‑crime and could lead to charges under the Information Technology Act and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
