Five men posing as income‑tax officials entered businessman Anil Maheshwari's residence in Nasirabad, Ajmer, and stole gold jewellery and a mobile phone before fleeing when the victim's son asked for a receipt.

Ajmer police are investigating a robbery that took place in the Nasirabad area on Monday. Five individuals arrived at the home of businessman Anil Maheshwari, claiming to be income‑tax officials. They were allowed inside, where they seized gold jewellery and a mobile phone.

According to the victim, when his son demanded a receipt for the alleged inspection, the intruders identified themselves as members of a group called "Scorpio" and fled the scene with the stolen items.

Law enforcement officials have secured CCTV footage from nearby cameras and are reviewing it to identify the suspects. No arrests have been made so far, and the police have appealed to the public for any information that could aid the investigation.

The incident highlights concerns over impersonation of government officials in the region, prompting local authorities to warn citizens to verify the identity of any official before granting access to private premises.
