Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced a comprehensive five‑year development blueprint for Mumbai, highlighting new infrastructure projects such as a coastal road, tunnels linking Thane and Borivali, and a BKC corridor.
At a press conference in Mumbai, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis unveiled a five‑year development plan aimed at transforming the city’s infrastructure. The blueprint prioritises the construction of a coastal road that will run parallel to the Arabian Sea, as well as a series of tunnels linking Thane and Borivali to ease traffic congestion.
The plan also includes a new link across the Bandra‑Kurla Complex (BKC), designed to improve connectivity between commercial hubs and residential areas. According to Fadnavis, these projects will be executed in phases, with the first phase of the coastal road slated for completion by 2026.
The CM highlighted that the initiatives are expected to reduce travel time, boost economic activity, and provide better access to coastal communities. He also noted that the projects will create thousands of jobs during construction and in the long term.
Fadnavis said that the state government will seek funding from both central and private partners and that detailed feasibility studies are underway. The plan will be presented to the state legislature for approval in the coming weeks.
