An express train traveling through Punjab experienced a fire that broke out in one of its coaches, prompting emergency response and temporary service disruption.
A passenger express train en route through Punjab reported a fire outbreak in one of its coaches early today. Railway officials said the blaze was detected shortly after the train entered the state and crew members activated fire‑extinguishing equipment.
Firefighters and railway emergency teams arrived at the scene within minutes and managed to bring the flames under control, preventing the fire from spreading to adjacent coaches. The affected coach was evacuated and later detached for safety checks.
Preliminary statements from railway authorities indicated that there were no serious injuries among passengers, though a few reported minor smoke‑related discomfort. Services on the route were temporarily suspended while the incident was investigated, and a replacement train is expected to resume operations later in the day.
The incident is under investigation by the Railway Safety Commissioner to determine the cause of the fire and to assess any lapses in safety protocols.
