The Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) wage ceiling has been increased, raising the maximum monthly contribution to Rs 3,917.
The Ministry of Labour and Employment has announced an upward revision of the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) wage ceiling. As a result, the ceiling for monthly PF contributions has been set at Rs 3,917, up from the previous limit.
The new limit means that employees whose salaries fall within the revised wage band will see their PF deductions rise to the higher amount, with employers matching the contribution as per the statutory 12% rule.
The EPF scheme, a cornerstone of retirement savings for the Indian salaried workforce, now allows a larger corpus to be built over a worker’s career, potentially enhancing post‑retirement financial security.
Industry analysts expect the change to benefit both employees and the EPF Board by increasing the fund’s inflow, which can be deployed for longer‑term investments.
The amendment comes as part of broader efforts to keep the social security system aligned with rising wage levels across the country.
