A surge in criminal incidents in Dehradun has left senior citizens feeling unsafe in their neighborhoods.
Recent observations indicate a noticeable rise in criminal activity across Dehradun, prompting growing concern among the city’s older residents.
Seniors, many of them over 60, say they now limit evening walks and avoid public spaces because of fear of theft, robbery or other assaults.
Local senior citizen groups have approached police officials, urging more frequent patrols, better street lighting and quicker response to complaints.
Police representatives acknowledge the uptick and say they are reviewing deployment patterns to improve safety for vulnerable sections of the population.
The development highlights broader urban‑safety challenges faced by elderly communities in Indian cities.
