A fire erupted in a thatched mud hut in Karoli, a village under Omkarshetra in Madhya Pradesh, early on Tuesday. The blaze quickly engulfed the structure, killing eight goats that were the primary source of livelihood for a low‑income family.
Along with the livestock, the family lost a motorcycle, several pieces of agricultural equipment and assorted household belongings. Local residents managed to control the flames after calling the fire‑brigade, but the damage was already extensive.
Preliminary estimates put the total loss at more than Rs 2 lakh, a severe setback for the family that relies on the goats for milk and income. Authorities have recorded the incident and are assisting the victims with basic relief measures.
