Eight ex‑Naxal members in Bastar have successfully passed the Class 10 board exam, marking a milestone in their rehabilitation.

Eight former members of the Naxalite movement in Bastar, Chhattisgarh, have cleared the Class 10 board examination, according to local education officials. The candidates, who have been undergoing de‑radicalisation and skill‑building programmes, appeared for the exam as part of a structured rehabilitation effort.

The successful result underscores the role of formal education in steering erstwhile insurgents towards mainstream society. Officials say that providing academic opportunities is a core component of the state's strategy to prevent a return to violence and to equip the individuals with qualifications that can aid future employment.

State authorities have been coordinating with NGOs and community schools to ensure that former combatants receive regular tutoring and assessment support. The eight candidates' achievement is being highlighted as a positive example for other rehabilitation projects across the region.

While the exam pass marks a significant personal milestone, the participants will now need to pursue higher studies or vocational training to translate their academic credential into sustainable livelihoods.
