The Enforcement Directorate will request judicial assistance from Dubai through letters rogatory to gather evidence in its money‑laundering probe of former Kerala chief minister and his kin.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has informed a Delhi court that it intends to request cooperation from authorities in Dubai through letters rogatory as part of its ongoing investigation into alleged financial irregularities involving the former Kerala chief minister and members of his family.

Letters rogatory are formal requests for judicial assistance between jurisdictions, allowing the ED to obtain evidence, bank records or testimony located in the United Arab Emirates. The agency said the move is aimed at tracing assets that may have been transferred abroad.

The probe, launched earlier this year, focuses on alleged money laundering and violation of foreign exchange regulations linked to the former chief minister's tenure. The ED has previously attached properties and seized cash in Kerala, but investigators say further leads point to accounts in Dubai.

Dubai authorities have not yet commented on the request. Legal experts note that such international cooperation can be time‑consuming but is crucial for high‑profile corruption cases.
