The Enforcement Directorate has written its third letter to Punjab Police, urging the state force to register an FIR in a money‑laundering investigation.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has sent its third formal letter to the Punjab Police, requesting the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) in a money‑laundering case under investigation.
This latest communication follows two earlier letters from the ED to the state police, all of which have been pending response. The ED’s correspondence highlights the need for timely action to enable the initiation of a comprehensive probe into alleged illicit financial flows.
By insisting on FIR registration, the ED aims to trigger the investigative machinery and ensure that the case is processed under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The letter also reiterates the ED’s expectation that the police will cooperate fully with the Directorate’s directives.
The Punjab Police have yet to reply to the third letter. If the request is not acted upon, the ED may consider further legal measures to compel the filing of the FIR and advance the investigation.
