The Enforcement Directorate has submitted a report to the Kerala police chief requesting a corruption investigation into Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, his daughter, and son‑in‑law Mohamed Riyas.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a report with the Kerala police chief, demanding a corruption probe into the state's Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, his daughter and son‑in‑law Mohamed Riyas.

The report alleges that the trio was involved in a pay‑off scheme linked to the Calicut Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) project, though no formal charges have yet been filed.

The ED’s request comes after a series of investigations into alleged irregularities in the CMRL contract, which have drawn scrutiny from opposition parties and civil society groups.

If the police accept the ED’s recommendation, a formal corruption case could be registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, potentially leading to a trial in the High Court.

Pinarayi Vijayan has denied any wrongdoing, and the CMRL board has stated that all payments were made in accordance with legal procedures.
