Devadurga, Sept. 27: A massive protest will be held on Tuesday condemning the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raid on Public Works Minister and progressive thinker Satish Jarkiholi, said Constitution Protection Committee leaders Rangappa Gosal and Vishwanath Ballidav.
Speaking at a joint press conference held at the Tourist Guest House on Sunday, they alleged that the Central Government had deliberately targeted Minister Satish Jarkiholi through the ED raid.
They said Jarkiholi is not merely a politician but also a progressive thinker who strongly opposes superstition and works to create awareness among the people.
They described him as a simple and principled leader who follows the ideals of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Buddha and Basavanna. They alleged that the Central Government was targeting him because of his growing influence in politics and his stature as a possible Chief Ministerial candidate in the future, and was attempting to weaken his popularity.
They further alleged that efforts were being made to mentally weaken Jarkiholi, who works day and night for the welfare of the underprivileged and strives for the progress of all communities.
“We strongly condemn the ED raid on Satish Jarkiholi,” they said.
The leaders appealed to progressive thinkers, members of the Constitution Protection Committee and Dalit organisations to participate in large numbers in the protest scheduled for September 29 and make it a success.
Committee leaders Mohan Ballidav, Manasayya Nayak, Shabbir Buwaji, Babu Gourampet and Babu Kavas were present.
