The Enforcement Directorate has launched a money‑laundering investigation into FIITJEE, leading to the closure of 32 coaching centres and disrupting the studies of more than 14,000 students.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has opened a money‑laundering case involving FIITJEE, one of India's largest test‑preparation chains. As part of the investigation, the firm has been ordered to shut down 32 of its coaching centres across the country.
According to the ED, the alleged laundering amounts to roughly Rs 85.79 crore, linked to financial transactions that appear to violate the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. The agency has seized relevant documents and is conducting forensic audits of the company's accounts.
The abrupt closure has left more than 14,000 students without access to scheduled classes, examinations and study material. Parents and students have expressed concern over the disruption to their preparation for competitive exams such as JEE and NEET.
FIITJEE has not released an official comment on the probe or the centre closures, while the ED has indicated that further action may follow based on the findings of its investigation.
