The Election Commission of India has announced new filing dates for Service Interruption Relief claims, extending Delhi's deadline to October 30 and Maharashtra's to October 12.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) issued a fresh notice today extending the time‑frame for filing Service Interruption Relief (SIR) claims. Under the revised schedule, candidates and agents in Delhi must submit their claims by 30 October, while those operating in Maharashtra have until 12 October.
The extension aims to give election staff and affiliated workers additional time to compile documentation of expenses incurred due to service disruptions during the recent electoral process. The ECI clarified that the new dates apply only to SIR claims related to the current election cycle and do not affect other reimbursement categories.
ECI officials said the decision was taken after receiving multiple requests for more time, citing logistical challenges faced by parties in both regions. They urged claimants to adhere strictly to the new deadlines to avoid disqualification of their applications.
The previous deadlines were earlier in October, but the commission has not disclosed the exact earlier dates. The updated timeline is now in effect and will be monitored closely by the election machinery.
