The Election Commission of India has begun a door‑to‑door verification drive across Jharkhand to identify and correct errors in the draft electoral roll ahead of the upcoming elections.
The Election Commission of India (EC) has started a systematic door‑to‑door canvassing operation in Jharkhand to clean up the draft voter list ahead of the next state and national polls. Teams of EC officials and temporary field staff are moving from house to house, asking residents to confirm their details and report any missing or incorrect entries.
The verification exercise is being carried out in all districts of the state over a period of three weeks. Field agents are equipped with handheld devices that allow them to update information in real time, and they are also collecting affidavits from residents who wish to be added to the roll.
Election officials say the drive aims to reduce duplicate entries, eliminate dead‑vote registrations and ensure that eligible voters are not left out. The EC has urged citizens to cooperate fully, noting that an accurate electoral roll is essential for a free and fair voting process.
