DVAC Registers FIR Over Tender Irregularities in Tamil Nadu Water Supply Department

The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti‑Corruption (DVAC) formally lodged a First Information Report (FIR) on Thursday, flagging possible violations in the tendering procedures of the Tamil Nadu Water Supply Department. The FIR cites concerns that the procurement process may have been manipulated to favor certain contractors, breaching the state's procurement norms.

According to the FIR, preliminary investigations uncovered discrepancies in the issuance of tender notices, evaluation criteria, and award decisions. Authorities allege that the irregularities could have resulted in financial loss to the department and compromised the transparency expected in public procurement.

DVAC officials have ordered a comprehensive probe, directing senior officials of the Water Supply Department to cooperate fully. The investigation will examine documentation, communication records, and financial transactions related to the contested tenders.

If the probe confirms the allegations, the implicated officials could face disciplinary action under the Tamil Nadu Prevention of Corruption Act, and the tender may be re‑opened to ensure a fair and competitive process.
