A dust‑catcher system has been set up at the Anand Vihar inter‑city bus terminal to reduce airborne particles and improve commuter comfort.

The Delhi Transport Authority has commissioned a dust‑catcher machine at the Anand Vihar bus terminal, one of the city’s busiest inter‑city hubs. The equipment is designed to capture fine particulate matter generated by the constant flow of buses and other vehicles, thereby lowering the concentration of dust in the terminal’s waiting areas.

According to officials, the system uses high‑efficiency filters and a suction mechanism that draws in polluted air and releases cleaner air back into the environment. Preliminary estimates suggest that the device can reduce visible dust levels by up to 30 percent during peak traffic hours.

The installation is part of a broader effort by municipal authorities to improve air quality at public transport nodes across Delhi. Commuters are expected to notice cleaner surroundings and reduced respiratory irritation, especially during the winter months when pollution typically spikes.

The dust‑catcher unit will be monitored regularly, with performance data feeding into future decisions on expanding similar installations at other major terminals in the National Capital Region.
