Durga Idol Theft Leaves Chorbagan Pandal in Chaos

A Durga idol displayed in a Chorbagan pandal was reported missing on Sunday, raising alarms among devotees and authorities. Police were called to the site after a security guard noticed the idol was gone. The idol, a 4‑foot tall wooden figure painted in bright colors, was expected to be immersed in the Hooghly River on Tuesday. The theft has turned the normally joyous pandal into a crime scene, with investigators collecting fingerprints and CCTV footage from nearby shops. The police have urged the public to come forward with any information and have promised a thorough investigation.
