Fund manager Sandeep Yadav of DSP Mutual Fund said that GDP growth has dropped to a low priority in the hierarchy of market indicators.

Sandeep Yadav, a senior fund manager at DSP Mutual Fund, told The Indian Express that the pace of GDP growth has moved far down the list of indicators that investors watch closely. He explained that market participants are now giving more weight to corporate earnings, inflation trends and global monetary policy than to headline GDP numbers.

Yadav said the shift reflects a broader change in how the Indian equity market assesses economic health, with investors preferring data that directly impact company profitability. While GDP remains a fundamental macro‑economic metric, its relevance for short‑term market moves has diminished, according to the fund manager.

The comment comes as analysts monitor the latest quarterly GDP figures, which have shown a slowdown compared with earlier periods. DSP Mutual Fund will continue to track a range of economic signals to guide its investment decisions, Yadav added.
