The Directorate of School Education, Jammu, has released a standardized examination calendar for schools in the winter zone, aiming to streamline assessments across the region.

The Directorate of School Education (DSEJ) in Jammu issued a uniform examination schedule for all schools classified under the winter zone. The calendar, which will be circulated to school heads this week, aligns the timing of board and internal exams to avoid clashes with seasonal holidays and local events. DSEJ officials said the move is intended to provide a predictable academic timeline for students, teachers and parents alike. Under the new schedule, major examinations will commence in early December and conclude before the onset of the harsh winter weather, ensuring that assessment processes are not disrupted. The department has urged schools to adhere strictly to the timetable and to inform any required adjustments through official channels.

The announcement follows a series of consultations with school administrators and teachers' associations, who highlighted the need for a cohesive framework across the region. By standardising dates, DSEJ aims to reduce exam‑related stress and improve overall academic performance. Schools are also instructed to update their internal calendars and communicate the changes to students and guardians promptly.

The uniform schedule is expected to be implemented from the upcoming academic year, with periodic reviews to accommodate any unforeseen circumstances. DSEJ will monitor compliance and provide support to schools facing logistical challenges, reinforcing its commitment to consistent educational standards in Jammu's winter‑zone districts.
