A drug inspector in Punjab raided an unlicensed medical clinic in Jalandhar after the operator could not produce a valid degree or licence, prompting a formal investigation.

Punjab’s drug enforcement agency conducted a surprise raid on an illegal medical clinic operating in Jalandhar on Tuesday. Inspectors entered the premises after receiving a tip that the facility was providing health services without proper registration.

During the operation, the clinic’s operator was asked to present his medical qualifications and a valid licence. He was unable to produce any documentation, prompting the officials to seize records and equipment for further scrutiny.

The drug inspector has opened a formal investigation into the unlicensed practice, citing concerns over patient safety and potential violations of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. Authorities have warned that similar illegal setups will face strict penalties.

The raid underscores ongoing efforts by state regulators to curb unqualified medical practitioners and protect public health in Punjab.
