A domestic helper was arrested by Mumbai police after allegedly stealing ₹2.65 crore from the residence of businessman Sachin Ahir.

A domestic helper was taken into custody by the Mumbai Police on Thursday after allegations that she stole ₹2.65 crore from the home of businessman Sachin Ahir. The arrest came following a forensic audit of the property, which revealed a significant discrepancy in the household’s financial records.
The alleged theft involved cash, jewellery and other valuables that were found missing from the Ahir residence on Marine Drive. Police investigators recovered a portion of the missing assets during a search of the helper’s residence.
The Mumbai Police have opened a criminal case under the Indian Penal Code, and the accused is currently being held in police custody pending further inquiry. The department has stated that a detailed investigation will be conducted to trace the full extent of the loss and to identify any accomplices.
Sachin Ahir, a prominent businessman in the city, expressed his shock at the incident and confirmed that he had not authorized any such transactions. He also urged the authorities to expedite the investigation.
The case has drawn attention to the growing concern over security breaches in private households, prompting several high‑profile families to review their security protocols.
