Police in Shahdol have filed an FIR against Shanti Prajapati, wife of Dr. B.R. Prajapati, for alleged assault and burning of an eight‑year‑old girl; investigators are also scrutinising the doctor’s role.
Shahdol police in Madhya Pradesh have registered a first information report against Shanti Prajapati, also known as Gudiya, identified as the wife of local physician Dr. B.R. Prajapati. The FIR stems from a complaint lodged by the parents of an eight‑year‑old girl from Ashirwad Colony, who alleged severe mistreatment. According to the statement, the child was reportedly beaten and subjected to burns using a hot metal tongs. Investigators have collected preliminary evidence and are questioning witnesses to corroborate the accusations. While the FIR names only Shanti Prajapati as the accused, the police have disclosed that Dr. B.R. Prajapati’s involvement is under active scrutiny and he may also be named as an accused if the inquiry uncovers sufficient grounds. The case is being handled by the Shahdol district crime branch, which has urged the public to cooperate with the investigation and assured that any further violations will be prosecuted under relevant child protection laws.
