Doctors' Association Calls on Rajasthan DME to Release Pending Stipends for FMG Interns

The All India Doctors’ Association (AIDA) has formally appealed to the Rajasthan Directorate of Medical Education (DME) to release the internship stipend and clear any pending arrears owed to interns of the Faculty of Medical Graduate (FMG) program. The association highlighted that the delay in payments is affecting the financial stability of the trainees who are completing their mandatory clinical rotations across the state.

AIDA’s statement noted that FMG interns rely on the stipend to meet basic living expenses while they serve in government hospitals. The body warned that prolonged non‑payment could compromise the quality of training and deter future candidates from enrolling in state‑run medical courses.

The Directorate of Medical Education has not issued an official response at the time of reporting. AIDA has indicated that it will pursue further dialogue with the department and may consider legal or administrative action if the dues are not settled promptly.

The issue underscores broader concerns about timely remuneration for medical interns in India, a sector where stipend delays have periodically surfaced. Stakeholders argue that prompt payment is essential to maintain morale and ensure uninterrupted patient care during the internship period.
