Several localities in Dimapur will experience a blackout tonight after repair crews failed to restore supply, officials said.
The Nagaland Electricity Board confirmed that power restoration work in Dimapur has been delayed, leaving multiple neighborhoods without electricity for the upcoming night. Technicians cited logistical challenges and pending equipment as the main reasons for the setback.
Residents in areas such as Kheroni, Rengma and the city centre reported flickering lights earlier this week, but the situation deteriorated after scheduled repairs could not be completed on time. The board has urged households to conserve energy and avoid using high‑wattage appliances until the grid is stabilized.
Authorities have promised to expedite the pending work and have dispatched additional crews to the affected zones. However, they warned that full restoration may take several more days, depending on the availability of spare parts and weather conditions.
The prolonged outage has impacted small businesses and daily commuters, prompting local officials to explore temporary power solutions, including mobile generators, to mitigate inconvenience.
The electricity board will provide updates through its official channels as the repair efforts progress.
