The Directorate General of GST Intelligence has identified tax evasion amounting to about ₹115 crore in hotels across Andhra Pradesh.
The Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) announced that hotels operating in Andhra Pradesh have collectively evaded GST worth roughly ₹115 crore. The agency’s investigation, carried out over several months, uncovered systematic under‑reporting of taxable turnover by a number of establishments.
According to the DGGI report, the hotels failed to declare the correct value of services rendered, resulting in a shortfall in the tax payable to the government. The agency said it cross‑checked invoices, occupancy records and electronic cash registers to arrive at the estimated loss.
The findings have prompted the tax authorities to initiate recovery proceedings and consider penal action against the non‑compliant entities. Officials urged the hospitality sector to adhere strictly to GST regulations to avoid similar breaches in the future.
