DGCA bans flight training at Uttar Pradesh schools during BRICS summit

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) issued an advisory ordering a complete suspension of flight operations at all aviation training institutes in Uttar Pradesh until the conclusion of the BRICS summit. The directive aims to clear the airspace around New Delhi and surrounding regions, where heightened security and traffic management are expected during the high‑profile international gathering.

Officials said the restriction applies to all types of training flights, including pilot‑training sorties, simulator movements that involve actual take‑offs, and any scheduled practice landings. Training schools have been instructed to halt sorties and to coordinate with local air traffic control for any essential movements.

The DGCA emphasized that the measure is temporary and will be lifted once the summit concludes. It also urged schools to inform students and staff about the suspension and to adjust training schedules accordingly.

Airlines and other civil aviation stakeholders were briefed on the decision, which is part of broader security protocols for the summit that also include temporary flight path changes and increased radar monitoring.

The move underscores the government's priority to ensure uninterrupted security and smooth air traffic flow during the BRICS summit, which is set to host leaders from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
