Deputy Chief Minister Y. Patton hailed the unanimous approval of the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority Bill 2026 in the state legislature.

Deputy Chief Minister Y. Patton expressed satisfaction after the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority Bill, 2026, was passed unanimously in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly. The legislation is designed to create a dedicated territorial authority for the frontier regions of the state, with powers to oversee development and local governance.

The unanimous vote signals a rare consensus among Nagaland's political parties, underscoring broad support for the government's effort to address long‑standing regional disparities. Leaders from across the aisle praised the bill as a step toward more focused administration in remote districts.

Patton emphasized that the new authority will accelerate infrastructure projects, improve public services and foster economic growth in the frontier areas. He urged the relevant departments to implement the provisions swiftly once the bill receives the Governor's assent.

The bill is now slated for the Governor's approval, after which the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority will be formally constituted to begin its mandate.
