Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar highlighted that the state’s social harmony is its core strength and urged its preservation.
Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar said that the unity among Meghalaya's diverse communities is the state’s greatest strength and must be safeguarded. He made the remarks while addressing a public gathering, emphasizing that social cohesion underpins development and stability in the hilly state.
Meghalaya is home to several ethnic groups, each with its own language, culture and traditions. Dhar noted that respecting this pluralism has historically helped the state avoid major conflicts and foster inclusive growth.
The deputy chief minister called on political leaders, civil society and citizens to work together in protecting this harmony, warning that any erosion could undermine peace and progress. He pledged that the state government will continue policies that promote inter‑community dialogue and mutual respect.
