Deputy Chief Minister Dr G. Parameshwara chaired a meeting in Tumakuru today to instruct officials on the preparations for the 2026 Tumakuru Dasara festival, which will be celebrated from October 11 to 21 under government auspices.
The meeting, held in the District Collector’s office mini legislative hall, reviewed the festival’s cultural, religious, sports and entertainment programmes. Officials and local representatives discussed giving priority to local artists, talent groups and cultural teams to reflect Tumakuru’s heritage.
Authorities were instructed to ensure smooth traffic flow, adequate parking, drinking water, sanitation, electricity, road maintenance, public toilets and medical facilities for the public.
Given the expected high footfall of residents and tourists, the police were directed to prioritize safety and law‑order, deploying sufficient personnel at venues and keeping fire‑fighting and health teams on standby for emergencies.
All departments were asked to coordinate closely so that the festival’s schedule proceeds without disruption, with each department presenting its action plan during the meeting.
