Delhi’s Master Plan 2047 Aims to Deliver 4 Million New Flats via Transit‑Led Mixed‑Use Development

The Delhi Development Authority has unveiled the draft of Master Plan 2047, setting out a long‑term spatial framework for the national capital. Central to the blueprint is a target of adding roughly four million new flats, a move aimed at easing the city’s chronic housing shortage and expanding affordable housing stock. The plan couples this housing push with mixed‑use, transit‑led development, concentrating higher‑density projects around metro and bus corridors to cut dependence on private cars. Planners also intend to upgrade existing infrastructure, create additional green belts, and align land‑use patterns with the projected population growth through 2047.
